Grant County Economic Development Council to serve as new lead agency for Grant County Coalition for Health Improvement

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to challenge local public health and healthcare partners, the Grant County Economic Development Council (EDC) has stepped forward to lead the Grant County Coalition for Health Improvement (CHI) in 2021. The Grant County CHI, previously led by Grant County Health District, consists of Grant County partner organizations and community members who are interested in transforming and improving the health of Grant County at the community level.  The Coalition was first convened in 2014 to help the region prepare for the creation of the North Central Accountable Community of Health.

NCACH Executive Director, Linda Evans Parlette, says “We are grateful to Grant County Health District for serving as the lead for the Grant County Coalition for Health Improvement (CHI) and we understand the need to discontinue this leadership due to the extra demands of COVID-19. We look forward to working with Brant Mayo at Grant County Economic Council and future staff that will lead the Grant County CHI.”

In addition to convening partners and focusing on local health needs and solutions, the Grant County Coalition for Health Improvement joins two other Coalitions for Health Improvement (Chelan-Douglas CHI and Okanogan County CHI) who help guide investments through the CHI Community Initiatives fund, established by the North Central Accountable Community of Health. To date, the fund has given out $935,000 with plans to invest another $900,000 in 2021.

The Grant County Economic Development Council, whose mission is “To work for the continued orderly growth of the Grant County economy while improving quality of life,” is a nonprofit dedicated to connecting and convening partners to resources and one another throughout Grant County. The EDC’s primary goal is to enhance the Grant County workforce by bringing jobs to the area and expanding workforce and commerce opportunities. It is exciting to have a community partner, whose work so directly affects the health of our community, take the lead as we continue to bridge clinical and community efforts to improve health across the region.  The Grant County EDC will be organizing their first Grant County CHI meeting in early 2021, and will be reaching out to partners to introduce themselves and share more information.
