Save-the-date for the 2nd annual NCW Opioid Response Conference: Pathways to Resilience

Please save the date for the 2020 North Central Washington Opioid Response Conference: Pathways to Resilience, on Friday, May 8th, 2020.

As the region comes together to improve our system of whole person health, we are looking to empower and amplify the on-the-ground efforts and local solutions for change by building resilient communities. When it comes to combatting the opioid epidemic, we are stronger together.

What exactly is resilience?  The path to resilience looks different in each community, however, at its core, resilience refers to an individual or community’s ability to “bounce back” from adverse events. With this conference as our “NCW Resilience Kickoff”, we are launching a 7-month effort to support local sites building resilience against the opioid crisis. The goal of this conference is to workshop solutions to foster increased well-being. Whether it be learning innovative approaches to pain management, reducing stigma around mental health and substance use, or creating connections and relationships, we know our community has the power to build resilience against opioids in NCW.

The Opioid Response Conference uses an innovative conference model developed by Washington State University Extension to digitally deliver an expert keynote presentation simultaneously to multiple sites across the region. After the keynote presentation, each site will put their ideas into action through facilitated discussions and activities, turning their attention to local issues, resources, and project ideas.

Learning is an active process so this conference is not  for spectators–please come ready to:

  • Engage as both a learner and contributor.
  • Bring your questions, your initiatives, change challenges and dreams – this is a practicum and we’ll have time to roll up our sleeves and dive into supporting each other in our work.
  • Participate in creating healthy teams, learning and shared leadership.
  • Take responsibility for the things that you care about (including your own projects and learning).
  • Be curious – what can we do together that we cannot do alone?

P.s. Host sites and local leaders* needed! Interested in hosting a site? Click here to learn more. You’ll receive marketing materials to invite your local network, facilitation training for your Group Facilitator, technology support, and more.

New this year! Host sites will be eligible to apply for a Leadership Challenge Seed Grant of $500-$10,000 to develop and implement local community resilience projects and initiatives in 2020. Grantees will receive tools for success, online trainings, and tailored coaching support.
